Cascade School Board Vacancy and Upcoming Election

An invitation to think systemically, and lead (less than a minute read)

Dear Friend and Community Member,

The Zone 5 trustee has moved out of the School District, leaving a vacancy on the Board of Trustees. This position will now be filled through an appointment by the Board. To be considered for the position, email a letter of interest to Megan@cascadeschools.org. To qualify, you must be a resident of Zone 5, and you can find the District zone map here.

This year is also an election year for Zones 3 and 4. The window to declare candidacy opens tomorrow, August 18, and the last day to submit your Declaration of Candidacy form is August 29. With Paula Bartlett’s departure from the District and the Board, all four remaining trustees have not been elected by the community. When our youth are the most important thing to us, our community, and our future, this does not inspire a lot of confidence that they are receiving the best systems-level thinking our community has to offer. It is time for you, the community, take responsibility for our local institutions of service and mold them into what best prepares our youth for the future.

I hope to be shoulder-to-shoulder with you soon, paving the road that guides our youth to their lifelong potential (or limits).
